Alternative Spring Break Trips are the heart of MPI-W.
We believe that bringing students to Manna Project's international sties
gives students an in depth look at what life is like in a developing nation.
It also provides students the opportunity to serve others using their
talents and passions. Spending your spring break volunteering for Manna
Project is a rewarding experience.MPI-W's
second spring break trip took place at the beginning of March in 2008, eight
UNCW went to Managua, Nicaragua and helped with the construction of a
community center, ran a community
shoe sale,
led an art project, and volunteered at Manna Project's English and Math
Programs.

Look like fun? This year we hope to take two spring
break groups to Nicaragua and Ecuador. Visit Contact Us to get signed up for
the trip.
We also participated in the second annual called
Dia
De Luz (Day of Light). Dia de Luz is a community event which tries
to bring light into a place plagued with darkness. Over 300 college students and Nicaraguans spent a day in the city
trash dump, La Chureca,
where over 1,000 people live and work. This is a place where Manna Project puts a
great deal of focus to help with health issues and child sponsorships. We
spent the day walking through the dump, talking the the workers, playing
with the children, and dancing together at a Braddigan concert.
We also had a lot of fun. We had a few days for
relaxation and exploration at the end of our trip. We went to a beautiful
crater lake to kayak and swim, went zip-lining down a volcano, and spent some time at the beach.
