  •  Called To Order By Vice President Frank Higginbotham

  •  Pat Howey & Melissa Odenwelder were in attendance

  •  Teams not present:
        --> Men's Swimming & Diving
        --> Men's Basketball
        --> Men's Tennis
        --> Men's Soccer
        --> Men's/Women's Golf

  •  Relay For Life:
        --> Meeting tomorrow (1/22/07) in the Fisher Student Center.
        --> All who want to participate or be a team captain should plan to attend. (Free Pizza)
        --> (Daniel Hargrave and Megan Nash have agreed to attend).
        --> The athletics Relay For Life teams will combine smaller sports such as Men’s and Women’s
              Tennis,Golf, etc. If interested and unable to attend the meeting, please contact Melissa
              Odenwelder by phone or email to receive more information.
        --> Teams may register and receive donations online at RelayforLife.com.
        --> SAAC will also be selling Relay For Life bracelets again this year to raise funds.

  •  Talent & Variety Show:
        --> Talent and Variety Show will be held on Tuesday, April 24 in Kenan Auditorium.
        --> A committee was formed consisting of: Shayne, Shade, Bry, Alex, Megan Nash, and Carley.
        --> Each team MUST participate and smaller teams may split. In order to have a successful show,
              it is going to take a LOT of hard work and dedication, so the involvement must start now.

  •  Reading Days are going to begin soon. Megan Young had the idea of attending high school sporting
        events to show support from UNCW Athletics, with hope that the community will show more
        attendance and support at our events.

  •  National Student Athlete Day:
        --> Falls on Good Fridayso celebration will be on April 9th
        --> There will be food and drinks for all athletes from 12-2 so that more people can attend.

  •  Pig-Pickin' for Spring Semester:
        --> The annual barbeque usually held at Hugh McRae is going to be on campus this year in
            hopes of starting a new tradition after athletic events.
        --> This year it will be held after a track meet on either March 17 or 24, whichever is more
            convenient for the most sports schedules. We are getting the food donated.

  •  SAAC gives a gift to the school annually. The past two years, the gifts were a bench and additions
        to the bench. Ideas for this year were discussed and included: additions to the weight room or
        ATSM facilities, track locker rooms which will be discussed later and would be too much money,
        bird baths, gazebo, and beautification spot. Athletes are asked to think of more ideas for the next
        meeting.

  •  Reflections on the last semester showed that we want more enthusiasm within SAAC. T-shirts were
        discussed and although it was a good idea to increase attendance, the left over t-shirts are
        numerous and a waste of money. It was decided that all athletes should receive SAAC t-shirts
        next time, regardless of attendance. Many people would also have liked to receive a long sleeve
        shirt. Frank brought up the idea of having dinner together each night at the SAAC meetings.
        Adopt-A-Highway was a success last semester but transportation was a problem. Thank you to all
        who participated.

  •  The next meeting will be held on Sunday, February 11, at 7pm in the Golden
        Hawk Room.

  • The meeting was adjourned at 7:36pm.
