February 11th, 2007

  •  Called To Order By President Megan Young

  •  Relay For Life:
        --> Needs More Involvement
        --> Ideas were given about a prize for the team that raises the most money such as:
                - Pizza Party
                - Bowling Party
                - Ice Cream Party
                - Perpetuating Plaque
        --> Donations and Sign-Ups can be done online (Money should be given to Melissa or Joe)

  •  Going to high schools to go speak was a good topic of the night. Many student-athletes would
        rather speak to high school kids instead of elementary kids. We will continue to do both.

  •  Variety Show:
        --> Date:  Tuesday, April 24th (Tickets $5)
        --> All athletes are required to buy a ticket.
        --> Planning Committee: Megan, Ashley J, Megan Nash, Alison Leeper, and Frank Higginbotham
        --> Marketing/Promotions Committee: Jacqueline Crane, Olivia Klopp, Cassie, Genille, Jocelyn,
                Cristina Baric, and Uri Robinson
        --> Ticket Committee: Justin A, Brian Ford, Kirk, and Travis
        --> Three Person Team of Guest Judges

  •  Gift Ideas to UNCW Athletics from SAAC:
        --> Sound System for Hanover
        --> Improved Laundry Facilities
        --> Golf Cart for Recruiting

  •  An Easter basket will be given out to a needy family this year, so if you know of a family contact
        Pat Howey.

  •  Turn out of athletes at home athletic events is a concern. We need to support one another. It is
        suggested that each team picks a game/meet/match/competition to go to together. This will
        increase turnout. Pick-a-games may be brought back for next year. All spring sports should decide
        as a team which days are important for many fans to attend and that could also become the pick-
        a-game.

  •  Pat Howey discussed the Team Community Service Award and the SAAC sponsored Leadershi
        Award. Teams and individuals should be thinking of athletes to nominate. The forms will be
        emailed out ASAP and can also be found in Pat’s office.

  •  Meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM. Next meeting will be SUNDAY 2/18/07 in the Golden Hawk Room.
