In order to become a member of the UNCW Sailing Club, you need to follow the steps below. Some of you may have to learn how to sail before you can become a member, in that case you will need to get in touch with an approved member of the Club to schedule a time to go out on the water and learn the basics. It is your responsibility to schedule a time for an on-water test or lesson.

  1. Sign UNCW sports waiver * .
  2. Take the swim test during rec. swim hours at the pool located in the Natatorium adjacent to Trask Coliseum. You simply go during those hours and talk to a lifeguard; they will administer the test and ask you to record your name.(Swim Hours)

  3. Pass our sailing written test.
  4. Pass our on water sailing test, with a UNCW Sailing Club approved instructor.
  5. Pay 2010-2011 dues; $25 a semester, $40 a year (includes summer).

  6. Once all above steps completed you will received a key to the boats.

    NOTE 1: Forms can be turned in and written test taken at any Club meetings.
    NOTE 2: Gaining access to 420 sailboats requires additionnal training, only members having received the proper instruction will obtain a key to 420s.
