Active Membership

Active, voting membership in this organization is open to all UNCW graduate students who are currently enrolled in courses and/or are currently pursuing research activities in the Marine Sciences. Graduate programs or research activities can include Biological, Chemical, Geological, or Physical aspects of Marine Science.

To be considered active, and be allowed voting privileges, students must pay annual dues ($10) and attend two or more events scheduled by this organization each semester, at least one of which must be an MS-GSA group meeting.

Alumni Membership

Alumni membership includes individuals that have graduated from UNCW, but are still involved in the Marine Science community at the University. Alumni Membership is grated to those that attend one event per semester and pay alumni dues. Alumni members do not hold voting privileges.

Honorary Membership

Honorary members will be voted on by the Executive Council, by a simple majority vote. These memberships will be granted to individuals dedicated to supporting the mission of the MS-GSA. Honorary members will have to attend one meeting and pay dues. Honorary members do not hold voting privileges

Graduate Students

Graduate students that do not pay dues to be an active member of the GSA are still invited and encouraged to attend MS-GSA events to stay involved and informed. The only stipulation is that non-active members cannot vote or benefit from financial assistance. (i.e. you can’t come to all of our meetings and eat food paid for by our budget unless you pay dues!)

For any further questions regarding membership, please consult our Constitution
