Provisos
- The Vice President of the Student Body, hereinafter referred to as Student Body Vice President, shall be elected from currently enrolled UNCW students.
- No person shall serve as Student Body Vice President more than two full terms.
- The office of Student Body Vice President shall be twelve-month position, starting at the end of the spring semester in which they were elected.
- Not adhering to any of the requirements or duties listed in this section of the Constitution shall be considered dereliction of duty and will result in punitive action and may result in impeachment.
- In the event of a tie vote in the legislature, the Student Body Vice President shall cast the tie-breaking vote.
Requirements
- Shall have completed one semester as a full-time UNCW student, and must have a current and cumulative grade point average no lower than 2.5.
- Must attain 50 working hours per month to receive full pay of $300 per month. At least half of these hours must be served in the SGA office.
Duties
- Shall assume the duties of the President of the SGA in his/her absence.
- Shall serve as the President of the Legislature in the SGA.
- Shall call all meetings of the Legislature to order at the appointed times, shall preside over all meetings of the Legislature, shall announce the business before the Legislature in its proper order, shall state and put all questions properly brought before the assembly, shall preserve order and decorum, and shall decide all questions of order, subject to appeal.
- Shall serve as the Chair of the Legislative Advisory Board.
- Shall serve as a member of the SGA Planning Board.
Powers
- Shall appoint the President Pro-Tempore subject to 2/3 approval of the Legislature.
- Shall appoint all Legislative Committee Chairs, and Legislative Ad-Hoc Committee Chairs subject to 2/3 approval of the Legislature.
- Shall have the power to appoint as many assistants as deemed necessary to aid in the completion of his/her duties, subject to the approval of a majority of the Legislature.
- Shall be responsible for appointing any vacancies in the Legislature.
- Shall be responsible for representing the Legislature at University and community functions.
- In the event of a tie vote of the Legislature, the Student Body Vice President shall cast the tie-breaking vote.
