Purpose
The Capital Expenditure Fund’s purpose is to provide supportive funding to student organizations for one-time, large capital (tangible property) purchases exceeding $500.00. (Note: Each individual item being requested must be in excess of $500.00.) Priority is given to requests that benefit not only the organization, but the entire University. Further priority is given to organizations that have attempted their own fundraising. Any person or group requesting funds must be prepared to demonstrate how the UNCW campus will benefit from the funding.
Application:
All student organizations requesting CapEx funding must complete the Capital Expenditure Request Form (see the Forms page) and return it to the CAIC (FSC 2029) where an Involvement Specialist will accept the application on behalf of the SGA Treasurer. Any organization requesting funding through the Capital Expenditure Fund is required to present to the Appropriations Committee. This presentation will be scheduled through the Involvement Specialist upon submitting the request.
All applications must include the following either on the request form or with additional documentation:
·Documentation for at least three (3) price quotes or estimates for all items requested.
·The model and make of the item (if applicable).
·Estimated lifetime of purchase.
·Proof of a service agreement or warranty (if applicable).
·A description of the current item that needs replacing (if applicable).
·If request is meant to replace a currently owned item, provide documented estimates for needed repairs.
·Plans for equipment storage.
Timeline: This fund becomes available at the end of both the Fall and Spring semesters. Organizations making requests are required to sign up for a presentation time during a regular Appropriations Committee meeting. Presentations will be scheduled through an Involvement Specialist in the CAIC (FSC 2029) when the request is submitted.
