Special Activites Funding
Special Activity Funding may be received by any organization that is currently registered through the Campus Activities & Involvement Center. A Special Activity Funding request may be made to obtain money to attend a conference, for any one-time event, service trips, or for requests that were deferred in your operational budget. Requests that were deferred in your organization’s operational budget may require more information in order to be processed. The Appropriations Committee will be happy to review those deferred request when required information is obtained.
These forms are digital documents that should be filled out electronically with Adobe Reader. Do not fill the forms out by hand. Only typed forms will be accepted.
Request forms are available in the Forms section.

Timeline for Requests
It is recommended that organizations submit requests at least 3 weeks prior to their event/travel date. Requests will be reviewed and considered on a first-come, first-served basis as time permits during Appropriations Committee meetings. (Note: Although the committee works quite efficiently, there is no guarantee that requests will be reviewed the week in which they are turned in.) Presentations to the committee may be necessary upon request of the Treasurer.
The Appropriations Committee meets on Monday nights. All requests are reviewed by the committee, and their recommendation is then presented to the SGA Legislature at their Tuesday night business meetings. Organizations whose requests are reviewed at these meetings will be notified of the Legislature's decision within 24 hours.
If approved, student organizations must meet with the SGA Fiscal Assistant, Bitsy Shaw (shawm@uncw.edu, FSC 2029), to learn how to properly process any expenditures.
SGA Scholarship
The UNCW Student Government Association awarded the innaugural Student Government Association Scholarship in the spring semester of 2007. This honor will be awarded to a student organization leader who exemplifies academic excellence and strong leadership skills within their organization. This award is included in the annual Student Organization Leadership Awards. We believe that our student organizations add an undeniable value to our campus community; furthermore, the student leaders of these organizations deserve to be recognized for their efforts and commitment to this university.
