The NAACP is organized to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities. This organization attempts to inform the campus of effects of racial discrimination. Members are looked upon as student leaders not only on their campus but are actively involved in their communities.

Today there are High School Chapters and College Chapters actively involved in the fight for civil rights. The NAACP has one of the largest organized groups of young people of any secular organization in the country.
