The Graduate Student Association provides graduate students with travel grants to attend professional conferences, workshops, or to complete thesis research. These grants are designed to reward excellence in scholarship and to increase the visibility of the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s graduate programs within the academic community. Funds are limited and all guidelines are strictly enforced.
Individual departments that have graduate students, may request a Departmental Grant. These grants are to provide departments with funds to help improve intellectual experiences for graduate students at UNCW. These grants may be requested for equipment that would help serve the graduate students in that department, speakers, lecturers, one-time programs or events.
Gradute School Travel Grants *
The Graduate School will fund travel opportunities not otherwise available to graduate students. These monies are designed to reward excellence in scholarship and increase the visibility of UNCW’s graduate programs and research. Travel grants support student presentations of original, creative research or projects at a conference. Funds are limited and guidelines are strictly enforced. In the event of limited funds, preference will be given to applications from students beyond their first year of graduate study who did not receive a travel award last year. A student is eligible for only one travel award per academic year.
