THANK YOU to everyone who baked for and/or worked the bake sale for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.  The bake sale, which was held on February 1-2, raised $131.37 for the nonprofit organization Double Harvest.  Special thanks to Dr. Lloyd Rohler, who matched our donation!

 

THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support the 3rd Annual Rock for the Cure breast cancer benefit concert, held on Fri., Oct. 23 at the Reel Cafe!  The event raised $3567 for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation's Pink Ribbon Project.  Congratulations to event coordinators Ashton Young and Nishtha Sharma on the success of the event!  Click here to see pics!

 

CONGRATULATIONS to event coordinators Michelle Billick, Amanda Frasca, and Ryan Young on the overwhelming success of the 7th Annual Dress for Success Fashion Show, held on March 27th!  The event was dedicated to co-coordinator Ryan Young, and was held in the Warwick Center Ballroom.  More than 150 people attended, and the event received numerous media hits.  Click here to see photos from the event.

 

SPECIAL THANKS to Amy Hotz (Star-News), Al Inman (Carolina 14), Meghan Packer (WWAY-TV3), and Chris Wilkerson (Greater Wilmington Business Journal) for participating in our ALL ACCESS media panel.  The event, held on February 11th, focused on transitions in the print and broadcast industries, and had more than 55 students in attendance.  Click here for pictures.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sean McBride, Kelly Padykula, and Ryan Young on winning the Hunt for the Cure scavenger hunt!  The event was held prior to Rock for the Cure on October 24th and raised money for the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation's Pink Ribbon Fund.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to CSS president Amanda Cloninger on being named the Department of Communication Studies Academic Achievement Award recipient for 2008 at the COM Studies Annual Banquet on April 17th!

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Amanda Frasca on being named the CSS Achievement Award recipient for 2007-2008!  For her dedication and service to CSS this year, Amanda was awarded a custom-made plaque designed by the CSS Executive Board and a $100 gift card to the UNCW Bookstore.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to event coordinators Amanda Cloninger, Sara Griffin, and Perry Meyers on the success of the 6th Annual Dress for Success Fashion Show:  Career Search Investigation.  The event, which was held on March 28th in the Burney Center Ballroom, featured clothes provided by Banana Republic.  Special thanks to all of our wonderful models and volunteers!  Click here for photos.

 

SPECIAL THANKS to the CSS members who donated items for the Valentine's Day Care Packages, which benefited children in the Pediatric Care Unit at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  The goodies were delivered on Wednesday, February 13th--just in time for Valentine's Day!

CONGRATULATIONS to Hayley Lovitt, recipient of the CSS Achievement Award for 2006-2007.  In honor of her dedication and service to CSS, Hayley was presented with a plaque and a $100 gift card to the UNCW Bookstore at the COM Studies Banquet on April 19th.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with our Hurricane Katrina Relief Drive!  Thanks to you (and many generous donors), CSS helped raise more than $1300 to help the Red Cross provide support to many victims along the Gulf Coast.

 

CSS congratulates 2004-2005 President Megan Coffren on being named Outstanding Student Organization Leader at the Cornerstone Awards reception on April 20th!
