2009 Fall National Champions (Full Story Link-title)

To finish off a great fall 2009 semester, we put the icing on the cake with a  victory at our Fall 2009 National Championship held at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia.  With 13 teams that qualified for Nationals we pulled a victory of 9 shots over our rivals, Coastal Carolina University.   Teams ranged from Miami of Ohio, to Wisconsin, to UNC, and Delaware.  All 8 of us had a great time representing UNCW and our club golf program and bringing back the National Championship to Wilmington, North Carolina.  On top of the team victory.  We had 4 individuals finish in the top 8, including the new Individual National Champion, Alex Harris!  The course was playing extremely tough with wiry rough, a lot of wind, and slick greens, but Alex held it together better than any of the other 100+ competitors.  He finished at 2 over par after a 1 under par, 71 in the first round (the only under par round of the event).  Clint Azor and Erik Ehlert, making his club golf debut, both finished T-5 and Chris Faulkner at T-8.  We look forward to a great Spring 2010 semester!

2009 South Carolina Open 1st Place

Our 2nd club golf tournament of the semester was held at Stonebridge CC.  Out of 7 teams, 2 days of golf, counting 5 scores per round, we finished 1st place by 19 shots!  We had our top five players finish T-12 or better including Matthew Faulkner winning the overall event at even par, 70 74.  Christopher Faulkner, his brother, finished 4th, Clint Azor and Alex Harris finished T-9 and Patrick Cummings helped us wrap up a great top 5 with a T-12 finish.

2009 North Carolina Open 2nd Place

Our First Club Golf Event of the Fall 2009 was held in Greenville, NC at Ironwood and Bradford Creek golf courses.  Out of the 8 teams in our division we finished 2nd place overall with Matthew Faulkner finishing T-2nd individually at 2 under par (142) for the two days and Clint Azor finishing T-6th individually with a 74 73 (147).   A good start to an even better to come semester.
